Thursday, June 2 : day trip to Chamonix (Mont Blanc)

Starting at 8:30 a.m., a comfortable bus will drive you from Annecy to Chamonix. On the way, at the “col des Aravis” (height 1500m), you will admire the very beautiful landscape of Mont Blanc and Aravis Mountains.
At 10:30, you will arrive at Chamonix, world capital for climbing. A 20 mins ride with a rack railway will then allow you to climb towards the famous glacier “Mer de Glace”, at “Montenvers” station (height 1923 m).
A cable car will carry you to the lower part of the glacier where you will visit the ice cave, the crystals exhibition and the museum of Alpine animal life. You will relax while admiring the beautiful landscape.
Lunch will be served at “Montenvers Hotel”, the highest altitude hotel built in 1880, on “Mer de Glace” site. In the afternoon, you will visit the city of Chamonix and return to Annecy.

Friday, June 3, morning : guided tour of ancient city of Annecy

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m.
During this visit, on foot, with an English speaking guide, you will discover the ancient part of the city of Annecy, capital of the dukedom of Geneva until the 14th century. Later it belonged to the dukedom of “Savoie”, before becoming a part of France in 1860.
The visit includes :
- The “Palais de L’Isle », initially courtroom and jail, now the museum of the city,
- Annecy Castle,
- One or two ancient churches,
- The gates of the old town.
- The traditional market

Rate : 6 euros per person

Friday, June 3, 8:00 pm : The Gala Dinner
will take place by the lake at the restaurant “La Plage” in Annecy. The number of participants is limited.

Saturday, June 4 : Aravis mountains

Starting at 1:45 p.m., in the direction of “col de Bluffy”, you will pass by the 11th century Menthon Saint Bernard castle, remarkably located on a headland dominating the whole Annecy lake.
During the trip, you will discover the wonderful landscape of Aravis mountains, visit the “Baroque” church of Saint Maurice de Thônes, learn about mountain life, type of housing, and the rational use of space in mountain chalets.
At a stop in a traditional farm, you will taste local cheese and the famous wine of “Savoie”.
And return to Annecy.

Rate : 32 euros per person
